History

SkyMed was initiated in 1989 as a division of a Tennessee health services organization to serve the RV traveler. While the idea had merit it was not until 1993 when the concept was acquired by an Arizona investor group headed by Will Klein that SkyMed was incorporated (SkyMed International Inc) and expanded the pursuit of its original conception to cover the North American hemisphere.

Over the ensuing years SkyMed earned the designation of an RV industry legend, Escapees' CEO Cathie Carr, as the "Cadillac of emergency air evacuation membership services."

SkyMed earned the trust and endorsement of the vast majority of RV travel clubs in North America and has maintained that industry leadership on an uninterrupted basis to this day. Names such as the Winnebago Itasca Travelers; The Wally Byam Caravan Club International, Holiday Rambler Recreation Vehicle Club, Newmar Kountry Klub and many others have chosen SkyMed as the service of choice for their membership base.

SkyMed has delivered its acclaimed service to its membership without regulatory criticism or public challenge. SkyMed survivors on this website acclaim SkyMed for the service they were provided at a time of personal trauma while traveling away from their designated homes.

In 1996 SkyMed established a subsidiary company in Florida, SkyMed International Florida Inc licensed by the Florida Office of Insurance regulation. A second subsidiary SkyMed Virgin Islands Inc was founded in 1999 and received its Certificate of Authority from the U.S.V.I. Department of Banking and Insurance.

In 2008 SkyMed initiated a fourth entity, Global Emergency Travel Services to serve the worldwide market.

Today the SkyMed Group serves the entire travel industry from its original recreational vehicle public to timeshare owners, vacation club members, travel agencies and their publics to affinity groups of every dimension.
